Citrix names veteran Microsoft exec as its new CEO

Citrix, which has been searching for a permanent replacement as CEO to replace NCSU graduate Mark Templeton since last fall, on Thursday named Kirill Tatarinov to the job. Tatarinov is a 13-year Microsoft veteran. Citrix (Nasdaq: CTXS), which is based in Santa Clara, Calif., employs some 600 people at its Sharefile operation in Raleigh. Tatarinov assumes the CEO role on Jan. 25. Four North Carolina State University students spent the last three months talking to customers about a new way to share files, and they did it with help from the brains inside Citrix’s ShareFile division. A spokesperson for Citrix confirms that the software and services firm is moving ahead with plans to shut down a global Startup Accelerator program as part of financial cutbacks. Citrix to spin off GoTo family of products

Citrix Systems Inc. said Tuesday that it plans to spin off its GoTo family of products into a separate, publicly traded company. The transaction, which is intended to be a tax-free spinoff to Citrix shareholders, is expected to be completed in the second half of 2016. According to Citrix, the move will allow Citrix and the new company to focus on their respective competitive positions, while permitting Citrix to improve operational efficiency.
