COVID & moral distress: 72% of healthcare clinicians suffered, UNC study finds

Using data from a survey of more than 2,000 primary care, dental, and behavioral health clinicians who work with low income patients in safety net clinics, UNC School of Medicine’s Donald Pathman found that nearly 72% reported experiencing either mild or intense levels of moral distress during the first year of the pandemic due to limits on what they could do for their patients, witnessing their patients’ struggles and the challenges of their own work situations.
