RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – The best word to describe the outlook for jobs in the Triangle is mixed.

Even as openings for high-tech jobs soared to a new record high in January, according to the N.C. Technology Association, and companies such as Pendo step up plans to hire in 2022, major job boards report some increases in available positions while others say the hiring market is cooling.

Every Sunday, WRAL TechWire tracks the total number of local positions posted on national job boards, then we compare it to the previous week’s count. Our update shows:

Adzuna has 2,260 fewer jobs in Raleigh and 2,611 fewer jobs in Wake County than it did a week ago. Indeed.com also shows over 2,000 fewer positions across Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Johnston County. Dice.com, which tracks tech jobs, shows a drop of -96 openings in Raleigh and -121 in Durham.

However, the totals rose on other major job boards. LinkedIn has 1,352 more openings in Raleigh and 1,059 more openings in Durham than it did seven days ago. ZipRecruiter also displays 1,376 more jobs in Raleigh and 379 more in Durham. Dice.com added 200 jobs in Chapel Hill. (See the full breakdown in the section below.)

WRAL TechWire’s weekly Jobs Report compiles the latest information from the region’s top job boards, offering a breakdown of how many jobs are posted, which companies are hiring, and what positions are most in-demand. We’ve also included upcoming job fairs, student-centric resources, and a list of Twitter accounts that track local job openings.

Here’s what’s new since last week’s Jobs Report.
