CHARLOTTE – Centene (NYSE: CNC) has dedicated its new east coast headquarters facility, which broke ground in August 2020 at University Research Park in the University City neighborhood of Charlotte, and announced it has already added about 700 employees to its North Carolina workforce, which is expected to increase to 6,000 after the Fortune 25 company completes its 2.4 million sq. ft. campus.
The campus, once complete, will include a childcare center and early education center, multiple dining venues, a fitness center, a healthcare clinic, pharmacy, and more amenities focused on serving employees, the company said in a statement.
“Our new state-of-the-art campus and growing Charlotte workforce will enable Centene to drive innovation through technology and continue advancing our mission of serving the most vulnerable populations in North Carolina and across the country,” said Michael Neidorff, the chairman, president and CEO of Centene, in a statement.
“We are honored to contribute to the economic development of the region and are proud to announce that, over time, we will invest $1 billion in the Charlotte community,” said Neidorff. We are thankful to our many partners within the City of Charlotte, the county of Mecklenburg, and the state of North Carolina and look forward to continued collaboration and growth.”
According to the company, when completed, its campus will be a model of hybrid collaboration and engagement, with modern infrastructure.
The company will pursue WELL Certification at the platinum level, and the company stated that its campus will be one of the first WELL Portfolios in the healthcare industry.
