A new organization called Technology Action Group (TechAction) is partnering with Triangle United Way to provide computers to local non-profit groups.
On Jan. 31, volunteers from TechAction will participate in a “Hardware Party” at the headquarters of Triangle United Way, gathering to spend the day refurbishing donated computers for use by non-profits. Approximately 10 technology workers in career transition will be on hand.
This is the third Hardware Party collaboration between TechAction and Triangle United Way. The partnership has refurbished more than 400 computers that have been donated to organizations such as Durham Literacy Council, Interact and the Red Cross.
“Working with Triangle United Way is a perfect way for us to help fulfill our mission,” said Warren Fuson, executive director of TechAction. “We’re very happy to contribute our time and talents to such a worthwhile endeavor. As technology professionals, we understand the necessity of access to computers and networking for any non-profit organization. Our goal is to help make that readily accessible to organizations that might otherwise be left out.”
