Novan CEO Stasko’s total compensation increases 280 percent

​Acne drug maker Novan Inc. paid Chief Executive Officer Nathan Stasko $1.98 million in compensation in 2016, a 280 percent increase from $520,000 in 2015,  according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Stasko’s base salary increased 5.9 percent between the two years. The compensation increase in pay primarily came from $1.4 million in options awards associated with Stasko’s performance in fiscal 2015. Cempra cuts 2/3 of workers, stock falls 21% after drug falls short in study

​Clinical-stage drug maker Cempra saw its stock price fall 21 percent after it cut 67 percent of its workforce and reported earnings that missed analyst expectations, according to the financial results released Tuesday. For the quarter ended Dec. 31, Cempra reported a net loss of $31.4 million, or 60 cents per share.
