RALEIGH – Another company in North Carolina is laying off workers.

National Spinning Company is cutting 100 jobs as of Jan. 13, 2024, according to a layoff notice filed with the state of North Carolina this week.

The layoffs are described as permanent.

The plant is located at 240 Spinning Road Whiteville.

It’s the 98th such noticed filed with North Carolina this year, affecting nearly 8,700 workers.

That’s more than double the number in 2022 and well above the 5,600 of 2021 but far short of the more than 31,400 jobs lost in 2020 – the year of COVID.
