RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Medicago will lay off 62 workers who report to its Durham facility in Research Triangle Park, according to a required legal notice the company filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.

The company wrote in the notice, which was obtained by WRAL TechWire on Wednesday, that the move was made due to the company “restructuring its workforce to align with its changing business needs.”

As a result of the restructuring process, the company will lay off 60 workers who work at either the company’s location at 5 Triangle Drive or 7 Triangle Drive, as well as two workers who are remote employees but report to the RTP facility.

The Medicago layoffs will include technicians, managerial roles, quality assurance associates, and supervisors, among others, according to an attachment submitted by the company along with the required legal notice.

“The job losses will be permanent; it is not expected that the employees whose jobs are affected by this restructuring will be recalled by Medicago,” the letter reads.

All affected employees were to be notified by a letter sent by the company that would be dated on Wednesday, which the company’s notice said would be delivered by hand at one-on-one meetings or by email with a read receipt required.
