HENDERSONVILLE – According to a required notice sent to the North Carolina Department of Commerce under the WARN Act, Coats American, Inc. will lay off 51 workers in two sets of layoffs, then close its facility in Hendersonville.

A letter obtained by WRAL TechWire sent by the company to the Commerce Department notes that the reduction in employment “is expected to be permanent and will occur on or about November 9, 2022.”  A second set of layoffs will conclude on November 30, 2022, according to the notice, signed by Carolyn Webb, the HR Manager for the Hendersonville plant.

The WARN report, issued by the North Carolina Department of Commerce, now shows a total of 2,486 workers who have been or will be laid off in 2022, through Monday.

But layoffs have swept across North Carolina, and the total number of workers who have lost their jobs may be higher than that mark, according to the WRAL TechWire Layoff Watch.

For instance, neither the Pendo layoffs or the Avaya layoffs announced last week appear in the WARN report.
