RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Chen Xudong, a former executive at Lenovo, is the new general manager for IBM’s operations in China.

IBM made the announcement via its social media channel in China, and the news was picked up by media across the region.

Chen worked at Lenovo for 24 years, reaching senior vice president level before leaving in 2017. His latest job was with a China-based semiconductor firm.

While at Lenovo his roles included president of mobile business and president of China and Asia Pacific emerging markets, noted YiCai.

Chen is to report to Paul Burton, general manager of IBM Asia Pacific, IBM China said.

Lenovo, the world’s largest PC manufacturer, operates global headquarters in Morrisville and Beijing.

IBM operates one of its largest corporate campuses in RTP and employs thousands of people across North Carolina.
