RALEIGH – You’ve no doubt seen the “How it started/How it’s going” meme on social media recently. We love this uplifting messaging, because it celebrates what matters – progress!

[Former teachers and husband-and-team Anne Jones and Dan Gonzalez founded District C, a startup which offers training to high school students in solving “real-life” problems. Their approach is straightforward: prepare students for doing real work by giving them more opportunities to do real work.]

If you’ve ever worked with our students, or seen them at a District C Pitch Event, you’ve likely been impressed by their deep insights and strategic thinking. What you didn’t see is where these students started and how far they progressed during their work.

This month marks our 4th Year as a nonprofit! We wanted to take a moment to celebrate our birthday and our progress with you.

In 4 short years and with your help, District C has:

  • Reached 1158 diverse students
  • Trained 77 educators to adopt District C at 47 schools, districts, and institutions
  • Partnered with 120 businesses and organizations to have problems solved by student teams

We are proud of our progress and grateful to our partners and donors who have worked tirelessly alongside us with a mutual vision of preparing our next generation for real work.

In this next year and all the years ahead, we look forward to reaching even more students and supporting our educators, coaches, and member schools and districts.

Thank you all for celebrating our 4th birthday with us! We couldn’t do it without this community.
