RALEIGH – NC TECH is hosting its first inaugural Summit for Women in Tech – and the overriding goal is an ambitious one.

Kicking off next Sept. 24, the event will explore what actions can be taken to ignite change and support women in our state’s tech sector, in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

“Though women represent 47 percent of the workforce across all sectors in the U.S., we’re still lagging in IT, with just over a third of roles held by women,” said Jo Abernathy, CIO, Blue Cross Blue Shield.

“We’re committed to changing these statistics at Blue Cross Blue Shield, and I’m looking forward to hearing from powerful female leaders and learning from their experiences and perspectives during the Summit. Together, we can take action to move the needle on gender equity in tech.”

It includes an all-star lineup: keynote speakers will be Cynt Marshall, CEO of the Dallas Mavericks and former Global SVP of HR for AT&T; and Tana Greene, Co-Founder and CEO of MyWorkChoice.

Other speakers include Marie Hopper, president – FIRST North Carolina; Sharon Delaney McCloud, partner + VP of Professional Development – Walk West; Raven Solomon, multigenerational leadership expert.

Small roundtable discussions will also explore giving/receiving feedback, generational diversity, building your brand, and men as allies for women in tech.

NC TECH is a not-for-profit, membership-driven trade association and the primary voice of the technology industry in North Carolina. Its membership includes 650+ member companies, organizations and institutions employing more than 200,000 workers in North Carolina.
