UNC Sustainability Awards Gala

UNC’s Center for Sustainable Enterprise and the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise is hosting an awards program to recognize an alumnus-founded North Carolina-based company that’s incorporating sustainable practices into their business.

Black Communities: A Conference for Collaboration

September 9-11 @Carolina Theatre

The three-day Black Communities Conference features panel discussions, local tours, film screenings, workshops, keynotes and more programming aimed to foster collaboration among black communities.

Getting Gender Smart: Impact Investing with a Gender Lens

September 9-11 @Duke Fuqua School of Business

This two-day course hosted by Duke’s CASE i3 Initiative on Impact Investing focuses on deploying capital for women and girls, covering topics including fund and deal selection, impact management and portfolio improvement.

Pendomonium

September 9-11 @Raleigh Convention Center

Presented by Raleigh-based Pendo, Pendomonium is an annual conference that showcases the process behind developing great software.

Application Deadline: NC IDEA SEED

September 9, 5 p.m.

The NC IDEA SEED grant program offers a select group of early-stage startups $50,000 in funding before they seek future investments. Recipients will also receive mentorship from NC IDEA and access to its network of investors and business leaders.

Application Deadline: NC IDEA MICRO

September 9, 5 p.m.

Applications are open for NC IDEA’s MICRO grant program. Funding of up to $10,000 will be awarded to early-stage companies seeking to validate and further develop their ideas. Recipients will also receive mentorship from NC IDEA and access to its network.

Angel Capital Association Southeast Regional Meeting

The Angel Capital Association, RTP Capital Associates and The Launch Place are hosting an event featuring workshops and keynotes covering regional entrepreneurial ecosystem building, models of angel investing, the dynamics of investor networks and investment syndication.

UNC’s Institute for the Environment hosts a monthly breakfast inviting a guest speaker to discuss their latest research and projects.
