DURHAM – Is it just me, or did it seem that Daylight Saving Time came earlier than usual this year? Now that we’ve all “sprung ahead”– if somewhat groggily – let’s find out about the new seeds that LaunchBio is planting for Spring.

Larger Than Life Science Comes to Cambridge and San Diego. And it’s still free!

Never one to let the grass grow under our feet, LaunchBio will host its popular monthly afternoon Larger  Than Life Science programs – a combination of educational sessions for biotech startups, networking, community partnerships and tasty libations – in 2 new locations.

On March 20 in Cambridge, we are thrilled to join LabCentral as our partner to host our first Larger Than Life Science program, called “Raise and Spend.” We’ll feature several panels, including a group of savvy angel investors, a second with disease foundations talking about their investment priorities, and a third session on building great teams as companies grow.  The program will be held inside LabCentral’s Kendall Square space in the Playroom and Loft areas, which is reason enough to join us to check out these workspaces where the region’s smartest life science entrepreneurs congregate. As we say: Come for the people and programs. Stay for a beer. Leave with your next big breakthrough. Space is limited, so sign up today for the big debut.

There are only a few seats remaining for “The Science of High-Performing Teams”, which will be held March 28 at Genesis Campus Point in San Diego. Three experienced entrepreneurs who have been there and done that will share their insights on building company culture and attracting the right skill sets to scale a biotech venture. This will be a compelling lunch & learn, with lots of time for questions and answers.

Then on April 25, Larger Than Life Science lifts off at the new BioLabs San Diego Towne Center location, with the theme “Going Virtual.” We’ll feature companies that have achieved success with a small core team and outsourced specialists, learn about resources that can help startups make the best use of capital, and demonstrate some of the latest VR technology, too. Sign-up information will be available soon and will include an opportunity to tour the new space.

Highlighting Medical “Transformers” in North Carolina

We know better than to schedule anything in North Carolina that might compete with the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, so we are happy to note that our upcoming program April 4 at the Chesterfield in Durham is a day with no roundball action (although we can’t promise that the topic will be far from mind during networking). Show your true colors by coming out to support researchers investigating immunotherapy treatments that may revolutionize cancer therapy, learn about the evolution of analytical controls as drugs move through the development stage, and explore electronic music with our partners from Moogfest, the music, art and technology festival coming to the Bull City April 25-28.
