DURHAM – The life science community turned out en masse for LaunchBio’s ‘Larger Than Life Science’ event on Thursday night. Themed “Think Outside,” the program highlighted innovative individuals and companies working for the benefit of human health and well-being.

The evening’s programming opened with “Meet the Graedons of The People’s Pharmacy,” a fireside chat moderated by LaunchBio CEO Joan Siefert Rose.  Joe and Terry Graedon, whose long running radio show is heard by 200,000 listeners on 200 public radio stations nationwide, discussed their careers helping consumers make sense of complex healthcare and wellness news.

Charles Andres of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Next up, Charles Andres of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati presented “The Ins and Outs” and led a discussion on IP due diligence and FDA strategy for early-stage biopharma companies. Andres shared how the right strategy for advancing promising technologies includes an understanding of current FDA regulatory procedures and guidelines.

Vivian Doelling, NCBiotech’s Vice President of Emerging Company Development, moderated the panel with Joseph Nixon of Locus Biosciences, Ginger Dosier of BioMASON, and Frank Sorgi of FLAG Therapeutics.

The final session of the night, “Reaching Milestones” featured the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and three innovative wins for the state. Triangle Land Conservancy presents at LaucnhBio event

Throughout the event, Triangle Land Conservancy was on hand to share how their work encourages North Carolinians to explore and protect the natural world. The interactive session offered tips for foraging for wild food in your own backyard and provided samples for tasting.
