Recently, WRAL hosted a non-profit organization focused on getting middle school-aged women interested in working in technology. Tech Girlz, based out of Philadelphia, seeks to expose young women to careers and opportunities by partnering with volunteers from the business community.

Laura Blake, CBC New Media’s director of marketing, sits down with Alicia Park, national outreach manager for Tech Girlz, about the organization and what it is doing in the Triangle.

The two talk about the importance of organizations like Tech Girlz and the types of classes it offers. Alicia details the importance of reaching out to middle school-aged girls, specifically, reaching rural communities and where the organization is going in the future.

At the end, Laura and Alicia talk about Alicia’s background and how other organizations can partner with Tech Girlz.
