RALEIGH – Republic Wireless has inked a partnership deal with iPass Inc. that will provide its customers with millions of Wi-Fi hotspots nationally.

Redwood, California-based iPass (Nasdaq:  IPAS) operates the world’s largest WiFi network with more than 64 million hotspots globally at airports, hotels, train stations, convention centers, outdoor venues, inflight and more.

Using patented technology, the iPass SmartConnect platform takes the guesswork out of Wi-Fi, automatically connecting customers to the best hotspot for their needs. Customers simply download the iPass SmartConnect app to experience unlimited, everywhere, and invisible Wi-Fi.

By using the iPass SmartConnect Software Development Kit (SDK), Raleigh-based Republic Wireless  has integrated intelligent Wi-Fi connectivity into its mobile app. This will provide all Republic Wireless My Choice customers with a seamless connectivity experience, removing the need to re-enter usernames and passwords when connecting to different Wi-Fi hotspots.

Republic Wireless CEO Chris Chuang said the partnership further reduces network costs. In a statement, he said it will allow members to achieve one of the lowest per GB cellular data costs on the market. Members looking to expand their coverage and save cellular data through Wi-Fi will now be able to easily connect to Wi-Fi hotspots in cafés, hotels, airports and millions of other locations nationwide, he adds.

Republic Wireless pioneered the concept of Wi-Fi calling, which saves users money since callers don’t have to utilize cellular networks at all times. The company has been recognized as a top carrier choice by Consumer Reports; best basic plan by Money magazine and for excellence in customer service by PC Magazine.
