DURHAM – A pair of Triangle entrepreneurs are launching a new B2B sales, marketing and growth conference next week, seeking to build on momentum generated through a Triangle meetup and a previous series of events titled SalesJam.

Titled T-REX and branded with a T-rex logo, the acronym stands for “The Revenue Exchange Summit.”

“T-REX is a full-day B2B sales, marketing, growth conference,” says Eric Boggs, founder of RevBoss who put on the SalesJam programs. “We are expecting 200-plus attendees.” The event is set for April 13.

In a Q&A, Boggs talks about the event, his partnership with Vince Beese of Sales@Scale who leads The Revenue Exchange meetup, and how T-REX differs from previous programs. He also notes that RevBoss is a T-REX sponsor “but not directly affiliated.”

  • How does this event change from your previous ones?

SalesJam had a fairly broad focus, mainly appealing to founders and entrepreneurs.  Vince Beese and I decided to tweak the model a bit and focus T-REX on B2B growth professionals.  We think that tighter focus will make for a more impactful event for our audience. And it has certainly made it easier for us to recruit great sponsors and partners.

A pretty cool new interactive concept we’re introducing at T-REX is The Sales Improv Challenge.  Think sales role play training and improv comedy combined on a big stage in front of a couple hundred people.  We did a test run at one of our meet-ups at iContact last week and it was a riot. I’m excited about it.

Otherwise, we’re not deviating from the things that made SalesJam such a success – fantastic speakers, fast pace, plenty of networking, and a focus on fun.

  • How did you come up with the name? What’s it stand for?

T-REX is a shortened version of The Revenue Exchange, which is a popular B2B growth meet-up (Triangle Revenue Exchange) that Vince started a couple years ago.  We wanted to keep the SalesJam concept moving forward, so I reached out to Vince after our previous production partner ExitEvent shut down. Also, from a branding point of view the dino is a cool and differentiated event logo.

Vince and I have known each other for several years now and have the same vision and goals for the event, so teaming up for T-REX was a no-brainer.

  • What is the purpose? Why should people attend?

This event is for people that own the number — generally sales, marketing, business development, and founder roles.  T-REX is an exciting event for anyone that is interested in learning, sharing, networking and generally getting involved with the revenue generating community. We’ve sold tickets to people at 10 person start-ups and people that lead teams at publicly traded companies.

  • Is this a one-time event or will there be a series like SalesJam?

Our goal with T-REX is to create an annual, national conference that inspires, entertains, and educates sales, marketing, and business development pros that “own the number”.  And our smaller T-REX meet-ups will continue to happen locally every other month.
