MORRISVILLEMatthew Zielinski, a longtime executive at chip manufacturer AMD, is to become Lenovo’s new president for North America as of Feb. 12.

Zielinski replaces Emilio Ghilardi, who left Lenovo in August 2017. He had been replaced on an interim basis by Christian Teismann.

“Matt will bring deep customer and partner relationships to Lenovo that will help us drive continued improvements in customer experience, growth and profitability,” Lenovo said in a statement as first published by tech news site CRN.

Zielinski worked at AMD for the past 12 years. His most recent role was corporate vice president and general manager for global OEM sales and marketing. He’s a 2002 University of Michigan graduate.

Lenovo on Jan. 19 also lost its vice president and head of channel sales for North America in PCs when Sammy Kinlaw left the world’s No. 2 PC manufacturer for a new job at Lexmark, CRN reported.

Lenovo operates one of its two global headquarters in Morrisville. The other is located in Bejing.
