Startup profile: Aware Sign, helping businesses update store info, monitoring via the net

So how do business operators adjust opening hours due to unforeseen circumstances and make sure that when the doors open that the AC or heat have the right temperature before customers arrive? Enter startup Aware Sign.

“Currently there is no mechanism to update store hours on the door, other than to do it manually,” says CEO Adeel Ali.

“There is a lack of visibility into some basic information about the store such as if and when employee has come in, is the store open on time, if there is an exception such as employee is running late. If there is an exception it cannot be communicated to the client.”

There are other needs as well that Aware Sign, which is based in Raleigh, addresses.

“Aware Sign product provides not only these features but has many additional functionality such as monitoring temperature to see if AC is not being left on during close hours all under single product umbrella,” Ali says.

“Some such features are individually available but they are piece meal and difficult to install and manage. Aware Sign brings them all in a single low cost product with extreme ease of use.”

Bring benefits of the Internet/mobile connectivity to small business retail store operations at a low cost.

What is the top pain point/business application you are seeking to address?

Currently there is no mechanism to update store hours on the door (other than to do it manually). There is a lack of visibility into some basic information about the store such as if and when employee has come in, is the store open on time, if there is an exception such as employee is running late. If there is an exception it cannot be communicated to the client (store will be opening at 10:30 instead of 10:00).
