Most millennials are using their smartphones to connect to the Internet at home, and 31 percent of all smartphone users link to the net at home if they have an unlimited plan, according to a new survey.

“With smartphones, users can now surf the web anywhere, and this has chipped away at the dominance of cable broadband,” says ReportLinker.

The survey found that:

  • Almost 40% of people use their smartphone to access the Internet at home
  • 31% of people don’t use a broadband connection because they have an unlimited data plan on their mobile
  • 55% of millennials use their smartphones to connect to the internet at home
  • 69% of older generations prefer using a broadband connection
