The chances of crowdfunding becoming law in N.C. improved greatly Wednesday when backers of the bill in the state Senate incorporated it into a large “regulatory reform” package.

But backers are taking nothing for granted.

“We are not over the goal line yet, but getting close!!”

So writes investor Mark Easley, who is one of the major backers driving the legislation.

“Keep those fingers crossed.”

Republican Rept. Tom Murry of Morrisville told easley on Wednesday that the House bill (H680, known as the N.C. JOBS Act) was incorporated into Senate Bill S734. The House passed H680 a year ago.

That bill is scheduled to be debated before the current General Assembly session comes to a close.

“This is a good sign,” Easley says.

Over the weekend, NC JOBS Act backers launched a last-second lobbying effort to try to get on the collective radar of Senators, who are scrambling to finalize a state budget
