There are new chapters ahead in the story that has become the saga of Peak 10 since its launch in 2000. But these chapters under new owners is expected to produce more of what Peak 10 has delivered in the past, says CEO and Founder David Jones.

More growth.

A bigger footprint.

“With GI Partners, we will write a new chapter in our growth story,” Jones tells WRAL TechWire after Monday’s announced deal involving the sale of Peak 10 by private equity firm Welsh Carson.

Here’s Part Two of our Q&A:

  • Were your previous owners looking to make an exit? Had you talked with them about expanding and the costs related to such an expansion? Did Welsh Carson decide not to make further investment?

In 2010, Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe joined Peak 10 as a strong financial partner enabling us to accelerate our growth strategy and leadership capabilities. Since their purchase and with their assistance, Peak 10 has accelerated its growth trajectory allowing us to pursue our strategic vision.

  • Why are the new owners ready to expand? Deeper pockets? More committed to growth?

While we cannot speculate on GI Partners’ acquisition, motivation or timing, we can share that GI Partners believes in our culture, our team and the plan we have laid out as we look to the future.

They want to see us grow and they’re bringing their investment and expertise to the table to help us realize our future.

  • Does this sale benefit the Charlotte entrepreneurial community and if so how?

While a partnership with GI Partners will create a new operating environment with new liquidity, nothing changes the Peak 10 operating environment. The Peak 10 leadership team is one of our greatest assets and is ready to drive great things for us. growth. It is important to note that the past two years have prepared us for this deal, as we have the right resources and the right team in place.

  • Did you and current Peak 10 management look into the possibility of acquiring Peak 10 from Wlese Carson itself and thus taking complete control? Why or why not?

As a privately held company, we do not discuss these matters publicly.

  • Any new owners and/or investors present unique challenges and opportunities. How do you see GI as being different and how can they best help you grow Peak 10? IT expertise? Broader IT portfolio? A deeper bench in technology knowledge and expertise?

GI Partners has deep experience in value creation in the sector and a strong history working with technology and cloud-based companies in their portfolio. They want to see us continue to grow and they’re bringing their investment and expertise to the table to help us realize our future.

This new, strategic financial partnership will enable Peak 10 to continue our growth, further accelerating our managed services and cloud offerings, our operational automation and go-to-market strategies, and more rapidly extend our geographic footprint.

  • What did you learn the most from Welsh Carson that helps you in the days to come?

Our partnership with Welsh Carson created a strong foundation for our next phase. With GI, we will write a new chapter in our growth story.
