Have questions about Windows 8?

The RTP chapter of Information Technology Professionals will host a Windows 8-focused event just days after the new Microsoft software debuts.

Yung Chow, technology evangelist for Microsoft, will speak at the AITP event on Nov. 8 at the University Club in Raleigh. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

Windows 8 goes on sale Oct. 26.

Microsoft also will open its retail store in the Triangle on Friday, the same day Microsoft’s new Surface tablet launches.

The Streets of Southpoint in Durham mall is one of numerous sites across the country getting Microsoft “pop-up” stores as they are being called for the holidays.

This store will be on the mall’s lower level in front of L’Occitaine and next to the Welcome Center, according to Microsoft’s website.

One also will be opened in Charlotte. Microsoft has been opening retail stores on a limited basis.

Guests are welcome at the ITP

Reservations can be made online or by calling (919) 389-1178.
