North Raleigh is the new home for the east coast operations of , a software firm focused on electrical power systems design and management.

EDSA, which is based in San Diego, will base sales, engineering and software development operations in the Raleigh office.

The expansion is designed to help support customers in the eastern U.S., EDSA said.

A 25-year-old firm, EDSA already has 30 sales, distribution, and support offices in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

EDSA says it has “thousands of customers” with assets of more than $100 billion protected by its products. According to its Web site, EDSA customers include: IBM, Boeing, ABB, Shell, Alcoa, NASA, ExxonMobil and Raytheon.

“The deployment of our innovative solutions that ensure the reliability and energy efficiency of electrical power infrastructure is gaining very fast momentum across the nation,” said Mark Ascolese, the firm’s chairman and chief executive officer, in announcing the expansion in Raleigh.

“Building an operations center near Research Triangle Park will enable us to better serve our financial data center, telecommunication NOCs [network operations centers], government operations, petrochemical, manufacturing and process control customers up and down the East Coast, as well as maintain closer proximity to our technology partners in the region,” he added.

The Raleigh office is located at 9208 Falls of Neuse Road, Suite 120, Raleigh, NC 27615.
