Vox Media has acquired Revere Digital, parent company of tech news site, ReCode. Vox will add the site to its online publications, which include tech lifestyle site, The Verge, current affairs site, Vox, and the gaming site Polygon, among others.

ReCode was founded 18 months ago by Wall Street Journal tech columnist Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher. It has 1.5 million monthly visitors according to the New York Times. Both Mossberg and Swisher are joining Vox.

Vox says ReCode will continue operating as an independent publisher, although Mossberg wrote in a blog post (http://recode.net/2015/05/26/a-note-to-our-readers/)that it will “collaborate where appropriate with Vox Media’s current and very successful tech news site, The Verge.”

He added that the deal means ReCode now has access to Vox marketing, communications, sales and production tools.

“We will also eventually migrate to Vox Media’s beautiful, powerful and flexible proprietary publishing platform, which will give us new ways to present our stories to you,” he wrote.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
