The annual Computer and Technology Showcase makes its annual stop in the Triangle on Wednesday and Thursday, featuring numerous exhibits, panel discussions and guest speakers.

All events will take place in the Jim Graham Building at the State Fairgrounds.

Highlights include a Microsoft Solutions Pavilion, a Security Solutions Pavilion and 40 complimentary seminars

Wednesday’s events will feature four presentations from guest
lectures and panelist starting at 11 AM.

Dr. Abhinav Aggarwal from IEEE will speak on “Strategies For Effective Software Development,” including handling different
phases of software lifecycle in a cost effective manner.

A noon panel titled “What is the Future of IT” will feature
Vivek Wadhwa, chief executive officer of Relativity
Technologies; Armin Begtrup, CEO of QLUE Consulting, and John
Fitzpatrick of IEEE. Panelists will brainstorm ideas on how to
revive the IT sector.

Begtrup will stick around for another presentation called
“Crossroad – Past, Present, And The Future, And The People We
Meet Along The Way.” In his presentation, he will address the
differences between contractors and consultants, how the current
economy has hurt some and helped others, what roads should have
been taken, and what roads are available now to job seekers,
recruiters, small and large companies and vendors.

The day will end with another panel titled “Succeeding In An
Unfriendly Economy,” with Heather Hesketh, CEO of Hesketh.com;
Rebecca Antonelli, CEO of TrianglePR; Rita Geiger, CEO of
InfoStrength, and Mary Ellen Randall, president and CEO of Ascot
Technologies. This panel of top local women entrepreneurs will
discuss the challenges they have faced in launching their own
companies and their effective strategies for growing a business
in a difficult economy.

The second day will include two more panels.

At 11 AM, a “Career Disaster Planning” wiill include Marcia Gilliland, account manager at Right Management; Karen McMahon, president of Do It Right; Craige Summer, financial advisor with
MetLife, and Madeleine May from the N.C. Employment Security Commission.

A second panel at 1 PM will address “Security,” with Randall
Bennett, CEO of Secure Enterprise Computing; Don McArthur from
the FBI Computer Crime Unit, and Chris O’Ferrell, chief
technology officer at Netsec.
