“At SAS Institute Inc., 94 percent of employees say their workplace is great.”
So says the Great Place to Work Institute. And those high marks mean that SAS is once again near the very top of the rankings for best places to work.
Cary-based SAS is ranked No. 2 in the 2016 World’s Best Multinational Workplaces list from the Great Place to Work institute that was announced Wednesday.
Rankings are based in large part on survey responses from employees.
Google took the top spot. Other tech companies with a major presence in the Triangle also did well: DellEMC at No. 4, NetApp at No. 6 and Cisco at No. 14.
SAS has now finished No. 1 or No. 2 for six consecutive years.

Employees rank their employers in a variety of categories, from atmosphere to bosses. More than 1,200 of some 14,000 workers participated in the survey.
Highest marks based on “often or almost always” to “sometimes” went to “pride” at 98 percent followed by “atmosphere” and “rewards” at 96 percent. “Challenges” came in at 95 percent followed by “bosses” and “communication” at 94.
“Employees appreciate the great benefits, but they especially thrive on being able to tackle new opportunities in our rapidly changing technology industry,” said SAS co-founder and CEO Jim Goodnight about the survey. “Happy people make good partners who work their hearts out to make our customers successful.”
SAS, now in its 40th year, offers a wide variety of amenities to employees and boasts what it calls one of the lowest employee turnover rates in the software industry. SAS says its voluntary turnover rate is 4 percent.
In the latest individual country reports, SAS was judged a leader in Australia, Canada, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland as well as the U.S.
