HIGH POINT, N.C. — A medical and diagnostic laboratory will create as many as 500 jobs and invest about $11.6 million in an expansion of its Guilford County operations, company officials said Wednesday.
Solstas Lab Partners already employs more than 720 full-time workers and 140 part-time people at its High Point facility. The company, which provides a range of clinical, anatomical and esoteric testing services, has more than 1,750 employees working at numerous labs across the state.
“High Point was a natural fit for our expansion,” Solstas Chief Executive David Weavil said in a statement. “Simply put, the energy and experience of the medical workforce here is exceptional and meets our needs for a best-in-class organization.”
The average annual wage for the new jobs during the first three years of the project will be $49,023, with the average annual wage for all 500 jobs estimated at more than $45,000. Guilford County’s average annual wage is $39,520.
Solstas has qualified for a $450,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, provided it creates 300 jobs and invests $7.5 million over the next three years. Guilford County and High Point also have approved performance-based incentives for the firm.
The One North Carolina Fund provides financial assistance to attract business projects to the state. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job and investment targets to obtain the funds.
