Born and raised in Elizabeth City, NC. Attended UNCW for 1.5 years and realized college wasn’t right for me at the time. Had always been in and around the water and was introduced to SCUBA diving. I enjoyed it a lot and when I found out you could make a job out of it, I knew it was what I wanted to do. Attended commercial diving school in Houston(1997). Worked commercial diving and marine construction in the private sector +/-10 years. Including bridge construction/ repair, pipeline installations, dam inspections/ repairs, marina/ dock construction, and ships husbandry. Company was in Wilmington, but we worked across the state. Concentration of work started to move away from the diving, and I found myself needing a change. In 2007 I was fortunately able to begin work as U/W bridge inspector for the DOT. I have found it to be a challenging and rewarding career. Began current position of U/W inspection supervisor in 2016. There are 4 teams of divers located around the state (Leland, Columbia, Raleigh, and Statesville) in addition to managing dive teams I also review bridge inspection reports from private contractors.
I have a wonderful wife, Stephanie(teacher). 2 great kids - 8-year-old daughter, Evan and a 1-year son, Liam.
