Amy Elizabeth Roussel is a highly experienced research executive with a strong background in organizational effectiveness and social science. With nearly 25 years at RTI International, she specializes in public health services research, program evaluation, and health policy and management. Amy has led multidisciplinary teams and conducted research on various public health issues, including HIV/AIDS, chronic disease prevention, and patient safety.

As the Executive Vice President of Social, Statistical, and Environmental Sciences (SSES) at RTI, Amy oversees a diverse team of approximately 3,000 professional staff whose work applies capabilities in technology, data, analytics, and communication to address important public policy issues in health, education, justice, environment, and equity.

Amy has contributed to the field through her published research in prominent academic journals and her participation as a speaker in national and international conferences. In addition to this scholarly output, she is proud of the ways in which her work has been applied to inform programs and policy, truly turning knowledge into practice in accordance with RTI’s mission.

A firm believer in the power of research to effect positive change, Amy advocates for evidence-based decision-making to create more equitable and just policies and systems. Her commitment to improving lives globally aligns with RTI’s mission.

Amy Roussel's educational background includes a Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from Stanford University, as well as a B.A. in Sociology from Duke University. Before joining RTI, she conducted research in a variety of settings, including a psychosocial rehabilitation center and the University of Washington.
