Tim Gabel
Tim J. Gabel is the president and CEO of RTI International where he leads 6,000 staff with a passion for solving big problems from their RTP headquarters. Before becoming CEO in 2022, he served 10 years as executive vice president of social, statistical, and environmental sciences (SSES), the largest business unit within RTI.
Tim has earned numerous achievements during his lifelong career, from pioneering early efforts to conceptualize and develop internet applications for research activities to growing SSES to $667M in annual sponsored research. Originally joining RTI in 1983, Tim is the embodiment of dedication to the institute and its mission to improve the human condition. A true servant leader and people person, he embraces the role of creating a strong, employee-centric culture where all staff, who work in 90 countries, can do their best work.
With a focus on leveraging science, innovation, and technology to make the world a better place, Tim is a respected leader committed to making an impact for global good. His impressive background includes a B.S. in Statistics and Computer Science from the University of Wyoming and an MBA from Duke University.

Tim is a member of the American Statistical Association, American Association for Public Opinion Research, and American Public Health Association. He co-edited the book The Essential Role of Language in Survey Research and holds adjunct appointments at the University of Wyoming and the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
