Sophie McMillian brings more than a decade of nonprofit management experience to the Community & Diversity Engagement team at Blue Cross NC. As a strategic action-oriented leader rooted in community, she shepherds innovative solutions to engage employees which have led to large increases in participation in giving & volunteering programs. In addition to employee engagement, her commitment to reducing systemic inequities continuously leads her to seek opportunities & partnerships to drive authentic change in non-medical drivers of health.

Sophie currently serves as North Carolina Community Action’s Advisory Board member, founding board member of Banyan Inc., and is a past vice chair for the Young Nonprofit Professional Network (YNPN) chapter for the Triangle area of North Carolina. Sophie graduated with highest honors in Sociology with a minor in Social & Economic Justice from UNC-Chapel Hill and bleeds Carolina Blue.
