The state of Kentucky has signed a contract with SAS to use SAS Analytics software to fight fraud in its new Health Benefits Exchange.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Kentucky will deploy SAS Fraud Framework for Government as part of the fraud crackdown. Claims will be analyzed in Medicaid, food stamps, and temporary assistance.
“Kentucky, like other states, balances providing services with budget constraints,” said Lori Flanery, Kentucky’s Secretary of the Finance and Administration Cabinet and interim chief information officer. “If agencies throughout state government can access shared data resources to detect fraud, then we can alleviate those burdens that negatively impact all taxpayers.”
SAS has contracts for various services with each of the 50 states.
Terra Insurance Uses SAS Risk Management
In other news, SAS says that Terra Insurance, one of the largest providers of financial services in Norway, is using SAS Risk Management for Insurance as part of its plan to meet regulatory requirements for solvency.
“The results of the risk calculations and aggregations give us a better foundation and qualitative support for strategic decisions,” said Hans Olav Høiby, Risk Manager at Terra Insurance.
