With jobs stabilizing, Triangle will need ‘more people’

In an economic briefing Friday hosted by the Kenan Institute, UNC economist Greg Brown said that tech jobs seem to have “stabilized” in the region.

“We saw tech losing jobs over the last year or so,” said Brown. “That seems to have stabilized. So that’s, you know, good news.”

He also said that the Triangle will need to maintain its population growth to meet future hiring demands.

“Overall, I think the Triangle is still going to have to import jobs, and more people to fill jobs. I mean, our growth rate continues to exceed our organic demographics here in the Triangle, so we’ll continue to be importing people to meet labor demand.”
