RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Whole Foods is not escaping from job cuts totaling in the thousands across the grocery chain’s owner Amazon.

“Whole Foods plans to reorganize certain global and regional support teams over the next two months, the company’s executive team wrote in a memo to employees on Thursday,” CNBC reported Friday.  “As a result, the upscale grocer is laying off several hundred employees from those teams, a spokesperson confirmed.”

However, citing the memo, CNBC said the “move won’t result in any store closures or the letting go of any store or distribution center employees.”

Whole Foods operates stores across North Carolina – from Wilmington to Asheville with several locations in the Triangle.
