CARY – Fortnite players of the world, rejoice. Parents worried about children playing the megahit from Cary-based Epic Games, it’s monitoring screen time again.
Early Tuesday, Fortnite announced “Fortnite Season 2” with a new video trailer and a game that features many changes from the previous version which went dark on Sunday, disappearing into a virtual “black hole.”

The abrupt end to the game triggered worries worldwide that Fortnite was indeed over.
Turns out it was a marketing ploy – widely praised.
“Drop in to a New World. Fortnite Chapter 2 is here,” Epic declares in the new video trailer.
“Play Fortnite Battle Royale, the completely free 100-player PvP mode,” Epic adds.
“One giant map, A Battle Bus, Last one standing wins.”
Additions include a new island with 13 locations as well as “water game play.”
Epic also is promising “More fun, less grind.”
The global populaity of Fortnite has made it a pop culture trend-setter and made hundreds of millions – if not billions – of dollars for privately held Epic in the two years since its launch.
