The Triangle’s exclusive All Things Open conference is returning this Fall with two full days of talks, sessions, keynotes and demos to spotlight the latest advancements, trends and opportunities blooming in the open source scene. All Things Open 2018, the sixth annual program of its kind, is slated for October 21-23 at the Raleigh Convention Center.
All Things Open organizers rolled out the first round of programming announcements this month. They’ve also unveiled a fresh space-themed website design centered around the focus for this year’s conference—disruption. In a blog post explaining the theme, organizers said they wanted to capture the underlying idea that, despite its growth, open source isn’t done disrupting; in fact, it’s just getting started.
Earlier in June, All Things Open also announced its new designation as a certified B Corp, with help from B Lab. In the announcement, All Things Open Founder and Chair Todd Lewis wrote, “Since 2013 we’ve maintained a belief you could organize successful events featuring world-class speakers and the top technology companies in the world while maintaining, and even leading with a commitment to access, education, the community, partners, and others. We couldn’t be happier to achieve the certification, and to join a group of companies that agree there’s a better way to do business.”
All Things Open is known for drawing a crowd of thousands of people every year after its debut nearly six years ago. Beginning in 2013 with 700 attendees, All Things Open has experienced steady growth year-over-year to over 3,000 attendees in 2017.
This year’s installment will feature over 20 content tracks, covering back-end development, data storage and analytics, enterprise blockchain, business licensing and governance, open source implementation case studies, cloud platforms, and SQL and NoSQL open source databases. A showcase of over 100 Internet of Things demos will also be presented in partnership with RIoT.
The presenting sponsors for this year’s event are Amazon Web Services and Red Hat. It’s also presented in partnership with opensource.com, a Red Hat-produced publication covering open source subjects.
All Things Open 2018 organizers are offering prospective attendees early-bird ticket pricing through Friday, June 29. The special is priced at $99 and includes both days of the conference, plus lunch and networking.
