RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – The number of job openings in the Triangle fell again this week, according to the most recent edition of the WRAL TechWire Jobs Report.  But 49 of the “Top 50” firms that TechWire tracks are still hiring in the Triangle.

Citrix, which averaged 9.5 openings in the Triangle last month, is now showing zero openings.

And only three companies are showing over 100 job postings this week: Fidelity Investments (292), First Citizens (186), and Wolfspeed (116).

But a few companies other companies added postings this week — IBM is showing seven new postings in the Triangle for a total number of 26 postings. Spectrum also added seven postings this week, bringing their total number of Triangle openings up to 40.

NC TECH to host ‘Meet the Employer’ for First Citizens on October 10

First Citizens is one of many employers participating in NC TECH’s Virtual Tech Job Expo on October 11.

The bank has seen a big boost since the Silicon Valley Bank deal — and they’ve been hiring steadily around the Triangle.

For interested job seekers — First Citizens Bank is hosting “an overview of the bank and its’ IT operations” on October 10, the day before the NC TECH job expo.

Representatives from the First Citizens IT team will be available to share information about “the growth and future of the bank” and “what their recruiting teams look for in associates,” according to the NC TECH website.

The virtual event will run on Tuesday, October 10, at 9:00 AM. Registration is free and open to both members and non-members of NC TECH.

More IT-related openings with the NC Government

WRAL TechWire also has an exclusive roundup of job openings within NC government, and there are ten new IT-related job openings this week.

As of October 2, 2023, data tracked by TechWire’s exclusive jobs report shows:

  • 52 job openings (+6 from last week) in IT-related positions with the North Carolina state government (1,247 jobs total, +70 from last week)
  • 11 job openings (+4 from last week) in IT-related positions with Wake County government (46 jobs total, +2 from last week)
  • 2 job openings (-1 from last week) in IT-related positions with the City of Raleigh government (104 jobs total, +1 from last week)

Here’s a look at the Top 50:

In the wider Triangle market, the exclusive WRAL TechWire Jobs Report shows 226,414 active listings (not accounting for post duplications), a 0.4% dip from last week.

But the “Top 50” are a barometer of what’s happening in the Triangle tech sector, and 49 of the 50 companies on the list show job openings in the Triangle this week.
