RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Microsoft is making more layoffs, according to a report at CNBC. The tech giant confirmed making cuts beyond the 10,000 announced earlier this year.

The cuts are the latest among hundreds of thousands to hit the tech sector this year.

“Organizational and workforce adjustments are a necessary and regular part of managing our business,” a spokesperson said in an email to CNBC. “We will continue to prioritize and invest in strategic growth areas for our future and in support of our customers and partners.”

GeekWire first reported the job cuts.
