MORRISVILLE – Lars Petersen is  the new president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies “effective immediately,” the company announced Thurday.

Martin Meeson the firm’s president and CEO since 2020 who was based in Morrisville, is out.

The Triangle Business Journal reported Thursday that the change was made to drive future growth.

“Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies is on an ambitious seven-year growth trajectory, and it was determined that new leadership and new approaches were needed to face any potential challenges that may arise and to leverage the opportunities required to achieve the growth targets,” Christine Jackman, a spokesperson for Fujifilm Diosynth, told TBJ via email.

The company is building a new $2 billion production plant in Holly Springs. It’s U.S. headquarters is located in Morrisville.

Petersen most recently served as chief operating officer of the company’s site in Denmark.
