WILSON – Generative Ai, ChatGPT, and similar chatbots have already secured a slot as defining innovations of the 2020s. At Gig East Summit 2023, Gig East, Greenlight Community Broadband, and the City of Wilson aim to show attendees how they can make this new technology work for their professional and personal lives. The event is free and includes lunch and light breakfast refreshments.
Gig East Summit 2023’s keynote speaker will be Stefan Youngblood, a Raleigh-based innovative entrepreneur who specializes in educating people of all tech backgrounds on emerging technology like ChatGPT and the Metaverse. Youngblood is the founder of HireBlack.com, a Black-Owned platform partnering with CareerBuilder™, connecting companies and candidates toward diversity, equity, and inclusion. He is a leading Networking Architect bridging socioeconomic gaps through compassion, faith, and innovation. His keynote message, “Revolutionizing the Business Landscape: Harnessing AI for Innovation, Strategy, and Success” will uncover how to harness the incredible abilities of the most widely used chatbots, including the powerful Chat GPT, to streamline work and achieve goals.
Following the keynote message, Capitol B’s Katie Daugherty will lead a panel entitled “Unlocking the Power of First-Party Data: Strategies for Activating Customer Insights.” During this session, industry experts will discuss how first-party data can be used to discover new business opportunities and optimize marketing strategies. The panelists will share their insights into how businesses can collect first-party data and use it to identify key audience segments, understand their preferences and behaviors, and activate that data to expand their customer base.
The crowd-favorite RIoT pitch competition will return to the Summit and offer an opportunity for participants of this year’s cohort of the Wilson-based RIoT Accelerator Program to test their pitches on a live audience. The 2023 winner will be announced at the end of the day.
After the pitch competition, Summit attendees will have the opportunity to choose to participate in one of four interactive breakout sessions. These breakout sessions will be focused on entrepreneurship, art, science, and technology, and will be hosted at sites across Historic Downtown Wilson.
Digital skills are more important now than ever before, and Wilson offers multiple programs that teach residents how to level up their skills. The afternoon panel, “Connections for the Future: Empowering Our Community with Digital Skills” will feature local and national partners sharing their experiences and insights on building capacity for digital skills training and job opportunities in local and regional communities, including the challenges and opportunities they have encountered along the way.
After announcing the pitch competition winner, the Summit will close out with a networking activity hosted by Historic Downtown Wilson, “Explore the Evolving E.A.S.T.” Participants will explore entrepreneurial businesses working in the arts, science, and tech industries while sipping and strolling through the Historic Downtown Wilson social district. Downtown Development staff will lead brief tours, starting with a to-go drink, visiting innovative businesses, and ending at a local brewery across from the Whirligig Park for networking.
