RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – A senior IBM executive had a warning for managers within the tech giant: You’d better utilize artificial intelligence in doing your jobs.

“AI may not replace managers, but the managers that use AI will replace the managers that do not,” Rob Thomas, chief commercial officer at IBM, said in a roundtable with reporters at IBM’s big tech conference this week during which IBM rolled out a slew of new AI services. “It really does change how people work.”

TechCrunch reported on the conversation.

The warning followed IBM CEO Arvind Krishna’s recent comment that IA would replace some 7,800 workers. He also warned employees that “work from home” is a hinderance to career advancement for those wanting to become managers.
