RALEIGH – Transdev Group, a France-based transportation company that recently acquired First Transit which operates buses in the Triangle, is closing an operation in Raleigh and laying off 265 workers, according to a mass layoff noticed filed with the state of North Carolina.

Transdev says a contract it had with City of Raleigh/Go Raleigh Transit was cancelled and “all services will be transitioned as of April 22.”

According to the notice, the city chose a new vendor RATP Dev USA.

However, Transdev said in the notice that “it is anticipated that most terminated employees are being offered continued employment by the new contractor.”

Transdev closed on the deal for First Transit two weeks ago.

Transdev describes itself as the “world leader in mobility with operations in 19 countries.”
