CARY – A Cary-based publishing company is raising capital, with $100,000 closed thus far, according to a recent securities filing for Spirit Media.

The company is led by Kevin White, who describes the company as “a Christian Publishing company located in North Carolina which helps people write, edit, publish, and market their books to the nations” on White’s website.

White is the author of three books with a fourth book planned for release in November 2023, according to his website.

The company was formed in 2022 and is incorporated in North Carolina, according to the securities filing.

According to the filing, the company has raised $100,000 in equity funding from two investors, and the total offering amount is $250,000.

The filing notes that $100,000 of the gross proceeds are estimated “to be used for payments to any of the persons required to be named as executive officers, directors or promoters,” referring to White’s disclosed position as the company’s executive officer.

Videos published on the website for Spirit Media note that Christine Smith and Barbara Hemphill are equity partners and authors that are affiliated with the company.

“No book should be without a brand. No brand should be without a book.” reads a statement on the website’s homepage.

The firm provides multiple services, including a subscription service currently priced at $1,500 monthly as well as one priced at $97 monthly.  In addition, the company provides publishing services for a one-time flat fee of $5,500, editing services for $2,500, and other coaching and writing services.
