RALEIGH – More than 200 workers are going to lose their jobs in Johnston and Pitt Counties, according to layoff notices filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

Two actions affect workers at Aramark. The others will be idled by the closure of a healthcare facility in Greenville.

Aramark is a provider of food service, facilities and uniform services.

The notices say:

  • As of Nov. 30, 105 workers will be laid off who work for Aramark at Johnston Health in Smithfield.
  •  Another 49 workers will lose their jobs on that same date at Johnston Health in Clayton.

In Greenville, 61 workers will be idled when the ECU Health Medical Center at 995 Wellness Drive is closed, according to the notice.

Layoffs still keep coming despite better-than-expected jobs report
