RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Triangle and North Carolina firms continue to report quarterly earnings. Here are several of the latest:

  • Chimerix

DURHAM –  Chimerix Inc. (CMRX) on Tuesday reported a loss of $39.5 million in its fourth quarter.

The Durham, North Carolina-based company said it had a loss of 45 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 11 cents per share.

The biopharmaceutical company posted revenue of $46,000 in the period.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $173.2 million, or $2.04 per share. Revenue was reported as $2 million.

  • Bandwidth 

RALEIGH – Bandwidth Inc. (BAND) on Feb. 23 reported a loss of $8.2 million in its fourth quarter.

The Raleigh, North Carolina-based company said it had a loss of 33 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 9 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 14 cents per share.

The enterprise software developer posted revenue of $126.1 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $118 million.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $27.4 million, or $1.09 per share. Revenue was reported as $490.9 million.

For the current quarter ending in April, Bandwidth expects its results to range from a loss of 11 cents per share to a loss of 7 cents per share.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $125 million to $127 million for the fiscal first quarter.

Bandwidth expects full-year earnings in the range of 3 cents to 9 cents per share, with revenue ranging from $547 million to $555 million.

Bandwidth shares have dropped 35% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $46.48, a drop of 73% in the last 12 months.

  • Tree.com

CHARLOTTE – Tree.com Inc. (TREE) – parent of Lending Tree – on Friday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $47.9 million.

The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said it had net income of $3.53 per share. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 14 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 28 cents per share.

The mortgage lending service provider posted revenue of $258.3 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $258.2 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $69.1 million, or $5.05 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.1 billion.

For the current quarter ending in April, Tree.com said it expects revenue in the range of $280 million to $290 million.

The company expects full-year revenue in the range of $1.2 billion to $1.25 billion.

  • Aerie

DURHAM – Aerie Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AERI) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $45.5 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The North Carolina, North Carolina-based company said it had profit of 96 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $1.09 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 68 cents per share.

The drugmaker posted revenue of $114.7 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $30.8 million.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $74.8 million, or $1.61 per share. Revenue was reported as $194.1 million.

Aerie shares have decreased 16% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $5.90, a decrease of 64% in the last 12 months.
