CHAPEL HILL – CData Software, which offers cloud data connectivity and integration solutions, is gearing up for continued growth and more hiring after closing on a whopping $140 million in a second round of funding.

“Enterprises and ISVs [independent software vendors] are increasingly recognizing the benefits of CData’s unique approach to data connectivity,” said Amit Sharma, CData co-founder and CEO, in announcing the funding. “I’m looking forward to deepening our relationship with the Updata team, who have been instrumental in helping us build a strong foundation for rapid growth. With this investment, we will accelerate the expansion of CData connectivity solutions in the cloud.”

The close follows a $20 million raise in 2020.

“With $140 million in new funding, CData Software is poised to accelerate our already significant growth, expand headcount across the globe, and enhance our product portfolio in the cloud,” CData noted in a tweet.

Updata Partners led the round as it did in the 2020 investment.

The funding caps a “strong period of growth and profitability,” the company says.

The two companies are collaborating to expand CData’s global presence, introducing new cloud offerings and accelerating the rollout of “new cutting-edge data connectivity solutions.”

Named already as a  “Triangle Tweener” this year by investor Scot Wingo, CData says it is on a mission to simplifying the way that users and applications connect with data by delivering an  array of “standards-based” data connectivity solutions.
