RALEIGH – The Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC) has hired a new executive director, Deb Wojcik, who began the role on August 1, according to a statement issued today by the organization.
Prior to joining the RTCC as its executive director, Wojcik was the managing director of graduate programs and services for the Pratt School of Engineering and the Nicolas School of the Environment at Duke University.

“I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to continue RTCC’s work to address the challenges of climate change and the opportunities of the clean energy transition through the innovative technologies developed by our members,” said Wojcik in a statement. “Through our focus on cleantech innovation, we can build connections across several sectors to expand the impact of cleantech in the Triangle area and beyond.”
The RTCC board of directors unanimously selected Wojcik, who follows Emmit Owens, who had served in the role of interim executive director. He will now continue to work for the RTCC as the membership recruitment and retention manager for the organization.

“I’m looking forward to working with our members and expanding our network of collaborators to fulfill RTCC’s vision of creating sustainable communities through cleantech innovation and adoption,” Wojcik noted in a statement.
Wojcik earned a Ph.D. from the University of Florida and a master’s degree from Duke University.
The RTCC is a collaborative initiative with business, government, academic, and nonprofit leaders who together are “working to accelerate the region’s cleantech economy through collaboration and partnerships that promote innovation and sector growth,” according to the organization. In a statement, the RTCC noted that a priority for the organization is the integration of a recently-adopted strategic plan that calls for focusing the organization’s efforts on building “a more inclusive cleantech network.”
