WILMINGTON – TRU Colors will soon launch and distribute a featured product, TRULight, and thanks to a minority investment from Molson-Coors in April 2021, the brewery’s beers could one day be distributed in as many as 40 states.

The brewery, which operates in a Wilmington facility, was envisioned and founded by George Taylor, a co-founder and former chairman of Untappd (acquired by Next Glass, then later acquired by Providence Equity Partners in March 2020), as a brewing operation that would directly employ rival gang members, who together, would run the business and brew the beer.

The name, TRU, comes from three words: Truth, Responsibility, and Unity.

“TRU Colors Brewery is more than beer,” the company website reads.  “We’re overcoming street violence by directly engaging the community to bridge divides and create economic opportunity, all while teaching life skills with professional training.”

Forbes profiled the company, as has Good Morning America.
